As Design Director for the Los Angeles Loyolan, I led the design team by managing assignments, mentoring interns in Adobe Illustrator, and taking on the publication’s most challenging social media graphics myself.
ROLE
Design Director
TIME
Feb 2023 - Feb 2024
In addition to daily production, I collaborated with the UI/UX and Audio teams on cross-platform projects that expanded the scope of our visual storytelling.
SKILLS
Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
PODCAST COVERS
When the Audio team was established, I designed cover art for their podcasts, which appeared on Spotify and the Loyolan website. Voices of the Newsroom required a specific illustration of the campus bell tower, while 60 Second Lectures gave me more creative freedom to explore concept and style. For the latter, I used the school’s red and blue colors and incorporated a clock motif to reflect the theme of time, creating polished, cohesive visuals that represented the publication’s expanding media presence.

WEBSITE BANNERS
I collaborated with the UI/UX Coordinator to create banners for the top of the newspaper’s special-report pages. From coverage of the basketball season to the anniversary of our university's merger to information about the rise of artificial intelligence, each design reflected its topic while maintaining a polished, cohesive visual identity.

VISUAL STORYTELLING
My main responsibility as Design Director was fulfilling graphics requests from writers and editors across the publication, creating visuals for articles and social media posts. I collaborated closely with contributors, gathering feedback to ensure each piece aligned with their creative vision. This process allowed me to deliver polished, cohesive graphics that enhanced both individual stories and the publication’s overall visual identity.
